Just like Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba will receive his very own Structure Deck in October 2016. The 35th Structure Deck in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game focuses on the main antagonist of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

It seems like Konami was aiming for equal opportunities and that’s why Kaiba’s Structure Deck also features a mini archetype that is putting a modern touch on a classic monster family. This theme deck revolves around LIGHT Machines, just like the X, Y and Z monsters that Kaiba used to play some years ago.

Powerful Union Monsters

A-Assault Core, B-Buster Drake and C-Crush Wyvern are certainly not the first Union Monsters, but they might be able to finally put the archetype on the map and help it do well in larger tournaments. The biggest drawback of decks that relied on the game mechanic had always been the extra Normal Summon you needed to add the Union Monster on the field that could then equip and protect one of your other monsters.

All 3 of the new monsters feature decent effects that help you compensate for the loss of your Normal Summon. A-Assault Core protects the equipped monster from your opponent’s monster effects, B-Buster Drake shields it from Spells and C-Crush Wyvern from, you guessed it, Traps.

Additionally, all 3 of the monsters also feature a second effect that triggers once they’re sent from the field to the graveyard. If this happens, A-Assault Core allows you to return a Union Monster from your graveyard to your hand, B-Buster Drake lets you search your deck for a Union Monster which you might get to Special Summon from your hand once C-Crush Wyvern bites the dust.

Heavy Mech Support Armor provides the deck with additional stability as it allows you to Special Summon a Union Monster of your choosing from your graveyard when it’s being Normal Summoned. You can then equip it to the respective monster and prevent your opponent from selecting it as a target. Even if he manages to destroy it, you can instead destroy the Support Armor to keep your monster on the field.

The boss monster of the archetype is ABC-Dragon Buster. You can Special Summon it by banishing the A, B and C Monsters from your field OR your graveyard. You can then discard a card to banish a card on the field. During your opponent’s turn, you can also Tribute the heavy hitter to return the A, B and C Monsters to the field and maybe prevent it from getting destroyed by a targeting effect.

There are a few more cards that have already been confirmed, two of which further boost the Union mechanic. However, the Structure Deck also features a brand new card for Kaiba’s signature monster, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. The Quick Spell makes you send a Blue-Eyes White Dragon from your hand or field to the Graveyard to then prevent a face-up monster on the field from ever attacking again.

Overall, there are 45 cards in the new Structure Deck and the rarity distribution is as follows:

2 Ultra Rares
3 Super Rares
40 Commons

Just like the Yugi Muto Structure Deck, you’ll also get a double-sides dueling guide as well as a beginner’s guide.
