General Intro

Maximum Crisis is the 63rd Yu-Gi-Oh! release following the February release Raging Tempest. In the Original Card Game, the Japanese version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, where sets are typically being grouped into blocks, it's the 12th release in the 9th block.

Playing Bad

If you're a fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V anime, you'll be well familiar with Zarc, the main antagonist of the TV show. His Supreme Dragons will be released in Maximum Crisis; in fact, his monster incarnation Supreme King Dragon Zarc will be the cover card of the set, appearing on booster packs and booster boxes. You'll need 4 dragons to Fusion Summon Supreme King Dragon Zarc, which looks like an impossible feat at first, but keep in mind that support cards like Dragon's Mirror will help you pull it off. Additionally, the sub-archetypes of the Supreme Kings, the "Supreme King Servant Dragons" as well as the "Supreme King Gates" will also be there to help. You will quickly spot some similarities when looking at the Supreme King Servant Dragons as all of these seem to be corrupted versions of the favorite monsters of the anime's heroes. Supreme King Servant Dragon Dark Rebellion is the sinister version of Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, Supreme King Servant Dragon Odd-Eyes will remind you of Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, and so on.

Thanks to its impressive 4000 ATK and DEF and the fact that it wipes all of your opponent's cards once it hits the field, Supreme King Dragon Zarc definitely tries to make up for the high initial investment. Additionally, it should be noted that it can't be targeted and destroyed by your opponent's effects, so he's likely to hang around.

Cards that will shape the Metagame

While it seems somewhat questionable that the Supreme King archetype will be competitive right from the start, the "Zoodiac" monsters are bound to make a big impact on the tournament scene. These monsters have been dominating in Japan ever since their first release and new members of the gang that will be introduced in Maximum Crisis will only make it worse for the opponents of the Zoodiac duelists.

Another archetype that will receive some love are the "Performapals". Several new members have already been introduced in the first spoilers of Maximum Crisis, so a comeback of the archetype that used to be played at the top tables in larger tournaments doesn't seem to be out of the question.

For the time being, that's most of what we know about the new Yu-Gi-Oh! release. As soon as more information becomes available, we'll update this article accordingly and provide you with even more information.
